The Mini-Bonsai Hobby $75
Written by Tei-ichi Katayama, one of the most well known and respected bonsai figures of the post war period, this book is a very accurate English translation of his work.
Katayama was one of the most influential figures in modern Bonsai, responsible for the "Keido" school of display aesthetics and helped to create the Nippon Bonsai Association. During the Sixties and Seventies he published numerous books on every aspect of bonsai and suiseki.
In 1974 in response to the growing interest from the west he wrote this book which was translated into perfect English. Covering a wide range of subjects from cultivation to styling and display this is a comprehensive guide to Bonsai. Although written over 30 years ago the points are still just as valid today, although this is more of a collectors book than suitable for an absolute beginner. Not only is it relatively rare, it is also signed and dated by Katayama in roman script on the first page.
It is a wonderful and insightful book, both in terms of content and the history it contains.
Text is all English, 96 pages, B/W throughout. Very good condition
