In the Japanese suiseki world the blackness of a stone holds great weight, Kamogawa stones are particularly saught after because of their deep, cool black colour and smooth, almost unblemished texture. This stone is a perfect example of such qualities, smooth to the touch and the colour is so deep you can almost dive in. A completely natural stone and untouched by any tools, it sits beautifully in a well made red sandalwood daiza which features some ornate carving near the feet. This is an elegant stone which does not need to shout, it is subtle and refined, perfect for those with an understanding of the Japanese aesthetic.

A subdued and refined stone with an interesting texture resembling a mountain range seen from a long distance there are no features which immediately grab the viewers attention, rather a distinctive varying texture which undulates with character and depth, drawing the eye in to the stone as a whole.

A powerful and deeply coloured waterpool stone, this is an easy to display and memorable stone. Found in the famous Sajigawa river in Tottori prefecture, it is a classical mizu-tamari stone. Resembling a deep pool carved out by the natural force of water, the stone really comes alive when placed in a suiban and filled with water.
