Translation

In addition to writing articles in English on various subjects I also offer a Japanese/English translation and interpreting service. I have already translated articles for publications in both Japan, Europe and the US, including Bonsai Focus, International Bonsai and Transparent.

Having studied Bonsai for over five years in Japan and achieving a high level of fluency in Japanese and English both written and spoken I am able to bring out the real meaning of bonsai articles and have a better understanding of the content than many bonsai illiterate translators. I can offer a competitive rate and quick service, finished and checked by native speakers of both English and Japanese for complete accuracy.

During my time in Japan and subsequently in Europe and the US I have acted as a translator and facilitator for many demonstrations and exhibitions. Bonsai masters are reknowned for their reluctance to explain many things in detail, just expecting the audience to understand. I have been able to fill in the gaps for numerous tour groups, demonstration audiences and give a much more rewarding experience. I am on very good terms with many of the well known Japanese Bonsai artists, Kobayashi, Morimae, Urushibata, Tsukuda, Kawabe, Ebihara and Suzuki, and can act as a go between for potential customers.
